Main purpose of role & level in the business:

As a Talent Manager in Kainos, you will partner with the leadership teams and managers across all Business Units to ensure that we recruit, identify, develop and drive strong talent, in line with business needs. Working within the Organisational Development & Learning team and partnering with other people team functions, such as People Support and Recruitment, you’ll ensure that each employee has the right core skills, is trained and developed appropriately in their first year. You’ll work with management to identify high potential employees, ensuring plans are in place to progress them further in line with business needs, such as project allocations, coaching, opportunities and further training. You’ll work proactively with management on an ongoing and consistent basis to drive accurate and meaningful talent data using the Talent 9 Box framework, aligning decisions from this to business goals. As a key partner to the business, you will work to understand the needs of different teams and capabilities and to identify and address any skills gaps. You’ll also build a strong pastoral care relationship with entry level employees.  Externally, you’ll build strong relationships with education providers and other relevant bodies, representing Kainos at events and employer panels.

Minimum (essential) requirements:

  • Experience in development and education of talent processes to underpin and support staff development and organisational performance.
  • Experience in recruiting, training and developing employees and working with operations teams to align skills to project assignments.
  • Experience of budget management, reporting and preparation of Management Information as well as partnering the business on forecasting of entry level recruitment needs.
  • Excellent customer focus, able to assess the needs of different teams and capabilities, through strong relationship building, and can manage expectations.
  • Excellent communicator, able to communicate with impact and credibility. Sound ability to formally present to senior audiences and at external events.
  • Coaching of managers to ensure they are empowered to manage staff.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project and business dynamics.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and make sensible decisions under pressure taking a balanced view of Kainos commercials.
  • Ability to widen and maintain a network of external contacts.
  • An acknowledged expert, with a strong understanding of education provider dynamics and the entry level market, and keeps up to date with changes, capable of thought leadership e.g. production of blog posts and innovative approaches to attracting entry level candidates.


  • HR Generalist experience.
  • Experience of training delivery in a HR context.
