Kainos' Tech Outreach programme shortlisted for Responsible Business Award

Kainos has been shortlisted for a Responsible Business Award in Northern Ireland. Shortlisted in the Education Award category, Kainos has demonstrated how its Tech Outreach programme has helped raise the aspirations and achievements of young people (aged 4-19) through a solid business education partnership. Kainos established the Tech Outreach programme in 2014, designed to radically inspire, enthuse and educate young people as the future of the digital economy. Through partnerships with organisations such as the Prince's Trust, Code Club and CCEA, Kainos delivers a variety of educational outreach activities to young people across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the rest of the UK. 'As one of the UK's leading digital technology companies, working on UK and international projects at the forefront of software development, we see first-hand the impact a strong digitally-literate workforce can have,' says Gemma Crothers, Tech Outreach manager. 'We believe it's vital to invest in the next generation of innovators, creators and leaders. We estimate we have directly impacted the lives of over 4000 young people over the last three years, and we're extremely proud to have been recognised for that achievement with this award nomination.' The awards, now in their 12th year, are sponsored by Electric Ireland, and in association with Ulster Business Magazine. Chair of Business in the Community NI, Roy Adair, said: 'We are delighted to recognise and celebrate organisations that are doing the right thing by their people, the planet and the places where they operate. Our Awards are a fantastic opportunity, not only to reward responsible business, but also to raise awareness of the great things that Northern Ireland companies are doing throughout the year. We had a considerable increase in entries this year. The standard was exceptionally high, and I think all of our judges found the shortlisting process a challenge. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our finalists the very best of luck.' Winners will be announced at a gala awards dinner at Belfast Waterfront Hall on Thursday 1 June.
