Autonomy Auminence Features in New Healthcare Agreement with Kainos

Cambridge, England and San Francisco, April, 13, 2011 Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced a new OEM agreement with Kainos, a leading IT consulting company, to integrate Autonomy Records Management (ARM) and Autonomy Business Process Management into Evolve?, Kainos's next-generation, Electronic Document Management solution for the healthcare sector. Further to this agreement, Autonomy Auminence, Autonomy's flagship, meaning-based healthcare analysis solution, will also be trialled at Evolve beacon site, The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. Autonomy Auminence is a unique tool that leverages Autonomy's meaning-based technology in order to improve the quality of patient care and lower medical costs. It does this by automatically understanding the meaning of the vast volumes of human-friendly information about patients, medical conditions and other healthcare data, analyzing it and providing recommended diagnoses and treatment plans for individual patients in real time. 'As a forward-looking healthcare organization, dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care, we are very excited to be at the forefront of the important new breakthroughs we have recently experienced with Evolve,' said Neil Turnbull, Head of Programme Delivery in the Information Management and Technology department at The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. 'Autonomy Auminence offers the possibility of a further turning point for us, by enabling our doctors and clinicians to make better, data-driven diagnosis decisions, and thus improving our service to patients.' Kainos, a long-standing Autonomy partner, chose to integrate Autonomy's Records Management solutions into Evolve due to their unparalleled retention and disposition capability, proven to support tens of thousands of users and manage hundreds of millions of documents. Kainos has also licensed Autonomy's Business Process Management solution in order to intelligently automate all business processes relating to electronic and paper-based documents, such as patient case notes and up-to-date medical discoveries, delivering cost reduction, time savings, and an improved patient experience. Both solution sets are founded on Autonomy's core technology, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), an infrastructure layer that indexes an organization's data and serves as a platform for the conceptual and contextual understanding of that information. 'Integrating Autonomy's meaning-based technologies into Evolve was a natural step for us, further reinforcing this strategic partnership and helping healthcare organizations across the country to manage their records electronically and use that information to fundamentally improve patient care,' commented Deirdre O'Neill, Head of the Evolve Healthcare division at Kainos. 'Evolve is already delivering considerable benefits to Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and we look forward to supporting them with their trial of the Auminence healthcare analysis solution, which we believe will be of interest to many Trusts, including those with a specialism in teaching and/or research.'
